As part of the exhibition "That’s IT! On the newest generation of artists in Italy and one meter eighty from the border", Edizioni MAMbo has issued a publication, not merely a catalogue of the exhibition, but a “work” created by two of the artists featured in the exhibition: book designer Federico Antonini, who designed the graphic layout using only the colours green and red, and type designer Alessio D’Ellena, who specially created the font Laica ASCII italic for this project. All the artists in That’s IT! have contributed to create the book, as each of them was completely free to design their own four- page folder, making an ad hoc visual intervention. All the interventions, which are printed on loose pages so that they can be assembled in the desired order, have become special sections of the book, a sort of extra exhibition space, a “show within the show”.The green leaflet (Italian version) and the red one (English version) contain various essays that address the notion of generation in art, starting with the essay by curator Lorenzo Balbi, followed by those of Lucia Aspesi, Giorgina Bertolino and Vittoria Martini, Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti and Gabriele Tosi (with a note by Serena Osti), Michele D’Aurizio, Caterina Molteni, Fabiola Naldi, Marta Papini, Cesare Pietroiusti, Andrea Viliani; Chris Fitzpatrick, Pavel Pyś and Kate Strain (the latter authors in conversation with Lorenzo Balbi). The volume also contains interviews conducted by Stefano Vittorini with Alberto Garutti, Giulio Paolini, Giuseppe Penone and Michelangelo Pistoletto.
ISBN 9788896296561. Edizioni Corraini. 3 leaflets. 3 leaflets of 72, 232 & 72 pages. 15.5 x 24 cm.
