The early drawings of Lebanese painter Seta Manoukian reveal a strong and original artistic hand and a keen sense of composition. Of Armenian descent, Manoukian was teaching at Lebanese University when the Civil War began. After 10 years of war in Lebanon she fled to Los Angeles, where she lives today, as a Buddhist nun. This publication looks back at her work, focusing on her work of the 1970s and ‘80s. It includes essays by Gregory Buchakjian, Kristine Khouri and Aline Manoukian.
