William Kentridge: The Head and the Load

This publication relates the creation of Kentridge’s new titular multifaceted work. A spectacle-performance exploring the little known history of the African porters who were part of WWI combining music, dance, acting, screenings and mechanised sculptures. In the same polymorphic vein as the show, the book immerses the reader in the creative process of the artist's work presenting images of the performance as well as thoughts, maps, sketches and drawings developed along its creation.
