Milton Resnick: Paintings 1937–1987

This catalogue is published for a retrospective exhibition of paintings by Milton Resnick (1917-2004). The catalogue doubles as a monograph on Resnick's work, documenting his over-50-year career, beginning as a member of the first generation of abstract expressionist painters in the late 1930s, and developing into a painter of thickly textured, seemingly monochromatic paintings of powerful emotional force. The exhibition is drawn largely from the Foundation's holdings, but also includes major loans from museum and private collections. The book also reproduces a half-dozen major works not included in the exhibition.
