Author: Faile
Artists Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller have been working with wood since they founded their Brooklyn-based collaboration Faile in 1999. Faile: Works on Wood shows their exploration of wood as an integral material in their practice. It introduces their puzzle boxes, each of which contains 88 wooden blocks painted on six sides that can be manipulated to create countless visual possibilities, as well as their prayer wheels, engineered to spin in place while people meditate to their favourite images. Although their art has its roots on the street, Faile's work clearly demonstrates that street art no longer solely belongs there. What began on city walls and asphalt is now shown in galleries and museums, in living rooms and on everyday objects. In their numerous projects, activities, exhibitions, and images, Faile show how much fun art can be and how much fun they have making it.
ISBN 9783899555479. Die Gestalten Verlag. hb. 272 pages. full colour. 24 x 30 cm.
