For this issue, Studio Trikken collected fallen pine bark from the ground around a lonely pine in the Swedish forest. The bark was then constructed into a typeface. Some letters contain up to 4 flakes while others already had the form of a letter when found. This experiment is a way to invite nature into the design process, creating a clash between the digital and the biological – a way of letting the otherwise quiet tree express some of its grooviness in the space of this magazine.
