Katsuji Wakisaka: Japanese Textile Designer

Katsuji Wakisaka started his career as the first Japanese designer to work for Marimekko, the Finnish textile company, in 1968. Surrounded by the beautiful natural world of Finland, he developed an aesthetic of organic shapes and bold colours. After coming back to Japan in 1980s, he started SOUSOU, an apparel brand whose projects are based on Japanese tradition. This publication collects his designs both with Marimekko and SOUSOU.
